Best Coffee

Vancouver is often said to be a Coffee Mecca, sister city to Seattle in the West Coast Bean Belt. Alas, our reputation is frequently belied when cup reaches lip – much of the espresso sold in Vancouver is tepid at best, prepared by poorly trained minimum-wage slaves who don’t know beans about making good coffee. Consistency is the bugbear of coffee-bars-the quality of the product frequently depends on which kid happens to be on duty when you show up.

Happily, Vancouver does offer its fair share of good java joints, including the home of the Canadian Barista Champion. Below, the best. –Steve Burgess
